Breast Lift Q&A

What is a breast lift?

A breast lift is a surgical procedure to raise the breasts. The procedure involves tightening the underlying breast tissue and removing any excess skin to reposition the breasts. At The Center for Plastic Surgery and Med Spa, Dr. Bouzaglou often combines a breast lift with concurrent implantation.

During your procedure, Dr. Bouzaglou can lift your breasts and increase their size using smooth silicone or gel implants, or she can perform a fat transfer. This is a highly customizable procedure that can enhance the shape, size, and position of your breasts.

Why should I consider a breast lift?

A breast lift can take years off your appearance by raising the breasts and tightening the tissue that supports them. There are many reasons your breasts may sag or droop as you age, including:

  • Natural collagen and volume loss
  • Pregnancy and childbirth
  • Weight fluctuations
  • Genetics

Sagging breasts are highly common with age. Hormonal changes as you age, particularly during pregnancy, can also increase the size of the areolas. In addition to lifting your breasts, the procedure can modify the size and shape of your areolas.

Am I a good candidate for a breast lift?

Dr. Bouzaglou may recommend a breast lift if you:

  • Don’t smoke cigarettes or use tobacco
  • Are in good overall health
  • Maintain a healthy weight
  • Have downward-turned nippled
  • Have elongated breasts
  • Have one breast that hangs lower than the other
  • Have misshapen, drooping breasts

At The Center for Plastic Surgery and Med Spa, Dr. Bouzaglou can customize your treatment to address your concerns and meet your post-surgical expectations.

What happens during a breast lift?

How Dr. Bouzaglou performs your breast lift procedure depends on your individualized treatment plan. After administering local anesthesia and oral sedation, Dr. Bouzaglou makes an incision around your areola. Then, she reshapes and lifts the breast tissue for a more balanced shape.

If you choose concurrent implantation, this technique maintains your blood supply while Dr. Bouzaglou either inserts implants or performs a fat transfer.

Dr. Bouzaglou may also reduce the size of your areolas by removing any excess skin around their borders. Finally, she eliminates excess skin around the breasts and closes your incisions.
